I.E. Green Tea and Honey Face Wash

I.E. Green Tea and Honey Face Wash

We all know that I.E. Green Tea is not only a high antioxidant green tea with at least 300mg of antioxidants per serving but also an all natural green tea that is delicious and healthy. Clearly, we believe ours is the best green tea on the market!

Did you also know that I.E. Green Tea makes for a great ingredient in face wash? While some of our I.E. Green Tea comes in slightly sweetened fruit flavors (peach green tea, lemon green tea, and raspberry green tea), we recommend using our pure, unsweetened green tea for the face wash recipe below.

This face wash is gentle and great for most skin types. Honey can be warming and our I.E. Green Tea is a mildly cooling astringent. You can use this as an everyday face wash, a mild hand soap, or a body wash and it keeps for several weeks at room temperature.

The essential oils are completely optional.

DIY Face Wash with I.E. Green Tea & Honey

  • 4 tablespoons honey
  • 4 tablespoons jojoba or almond oil (a great moisturizer)
  • 4 tablespoons unscented liquid castile soap
  • 1 Packet of I.E. Green Tea – Pure Green Flavor
  • 10 drops tea tree leaf essential oil or lavender oil (optional)

  • Combine all ingredients in a bowl and stir until mixed thoroughly. We find that using a glass bowl is best.
  • This recipe will fill an 8-ounce container. We recommend a squeeze bottle because this this face wash is a bit thick.

Studies have indicated that the primary phenolic compound in green tea, epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG), has a wide range of therapeutic benefits including anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial properties. These properties demonstrate efficacy in treating oily skin and related acne. Sebum is naturally produced by our skin and is a necessary part of healthy skin. However, a build-up of sebum clogs pores and stimulates bacterial growth and, hence, acne. I.E. Green Tea is rich in antioxidants (EGCG) which are effective at reducing sebum build-up and the face wash listed above with high antioxidant green tea has significant potential to help clear up acne and clean oily skin.

Green tea has also been shown to reduce the potential for melanoma skin cancer and nonmelanoma skin cancer. The abundance of polyphenols in I.E. Green Tea in the face wash above can only be beneficial in further protecting your skin and helping to avoid serious UVB light-induced skin disorders.

While we certainly recommend caution when applying any substance near your eyes, green tea may provide relief for puffy and swollen eyes. Carefully apply the face wash under and around your eyes. Then place a cold, damp cloth over your eyes for 10 to 20 minutes.

Of course, the best way to get the beneficial antioxidants into your system is to enjoy a green tea beverage or include I.E. Green Tea as a flavor enhancer to your oatmeal, yogurt, or similar foods. I.E. Green Tea is great in hot water or cold water and our slightly sweet all-natural fruit flavored green tea (peach green tea, lemon green tea, and raspberry green tea) is especially tasty in sparkling water. Try this to replace sugary, high calorie colas and other soda waters. I.E. Green Tea is sweetened with stevia specifically formulated for our products and I.E. Green Tea is completely calorie free.

I.E. Green Tea is not only a refreshing and healthy green tea beverage but also, when applied topically as with the face wash above, may be an effective means to reduce the build-up of sebum and acne causing bacteria. Skin types are different and results will almost certainly vary. Be sure to test the face wash on a small area and, of course, do not use the face if you are allergic to any of the ingredients. We also recommend checking with your doctor before trying any home remedy.

Because of the broad range of uses for I.E. Green Tea, from a refreshing beverage to a flavor enhancer for oatmeal and similar foods to an effective topical bacterial reducer, we are convinced that I.E. Green Tea is the best green tea you can find on the market.
